Everything you need to know before your first treatment
New to neuromodulators? That's completely normal. We've answered the most common questions first-timers ask — no medical jargon, no runaround.
Jeuveau® (prabotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved neuromodulator — the same class of product as Botox. It works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause expression lines. When those muscles relax, the overlying skin smooths out. Results are subtle and natural-looking when administered by a trained provider.
It depends on your goals, muscle strength, and treatment area. Typical ranges:
- Forehead lines: 10–20 units
- Glabella (frown lines): 15–25 units
- Crow's feet: 10–16 units per side
Shaun will assess your facial structure at your consultation and give you a clear unit estimate before any treatment — no pressure to commit.
Most clients describe it as a quick pinch — a few seconds of mild discomfort per area. The needles used are very fine. No anesthesia is needed, though you're welcome to ice the area beforehand if you're sensitive. Most people are in and out comfortably.
The actual injection process is about 10–15 minutes. With consultation and prep, plan for roughly 30–45 minutes total. It's a true lunch-break treatment — you can drive yourself home or back to work immediately after.
You won't see anything right away — that's normal. Initial softening typically starts around day 3–5, with full results visible at 10–14 days. Everyone's timeline is slightly different. If you're treating for a specific event, plan at least 2 weeks ahead.
On average, 3–4 months. It varies by individual — your metabolism, muscle strength, treatment area, and how consistently you've had treatments all play a role. Many clients find that with regular treatments over time, results begin to last a bit longer as the muscles "learn" to relax.
Both are FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A products. The main differences are:
- Brand lineage: Jeuveau uses a newer manufacturing process (Nexttox technology) optimized specifically for aesthetic use
- Formulation: Slight differences in the protein complex, though the active molecule is the same
- Price: Jeuveau is typically priced more competitively
- Efficacy: Clinical studies show comparable results — both work well
Shaun leads with Jeuveau because of its value proposition, but offers Botox, Daxxify, and Letybo if you have a preference.
No significant downtime. You may have a few small bumps or mild redness at injection sites that typically resolve within 30 minutes to an hour. You can go right back to work, the gym, or whatever's on your schedule. We just ask that you avoid lying flat for 4 hours and skip strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
For the first 24 hours:
- No lying flat — stay upright for 4 hours after injections
- Skip strenuous exercise
- No facials, massages, or skincare treatments targeting the treated area
- Don't rub or press on the injection sites
- Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning supplements (ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil) to minimize bruising
After 24 hours, everything goes back to normal.
Yes. If you feel you didn't quite reach your goal after your initial treatment, enhancement visits are available for an additional per-unit cost. Shaun will assess at your follow-up (typically 2 weeks post-treatment) and discuss whether additional units would help. Not everyone needs one — many clients hit their target on the first round.
The most common side effects are mild: redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. These resolve on their own within hours to a few days.
Less common but possible: headache in the first week, mild asymmetry as the product settles, or slight droop in an untreated area (rare and typically resolves as the product wears off).
Serious complications are extremely rare when administered by a qualified provider. Shaun will review your full health history at your consultation to identify any factors that might increase risk.
Yes. Neuromodulators like Jeuveau and Botox have been used in aesthetic medicine for over 20 years and have an extensive safety record. Jeuveau is FDA-approved, and Shaun is a dual board-certified APRN (APRN-CNM and WHNP-BC) with advanced training in facial anatomy and injection technique.
As with any medical procedure, there are risks — which is exactly why we do a thorough consultation before any treatment. No surprises, no pressure.
Yes — and it's included at no charge. Your consultation is a real conversation: Shaun will review your goals, assess your facial structure, discuss realistic outcomes, and give you a unit estimate. There's no obligation to book treatment that day. Some clients book right away; others go home and think about it. Both are fine.
Credit card, cash, check, and Venmo. Payment is collected at the time of treatment. Enhancement visits are charged the same per-unit rate.
